Naperville’s green quota is about to get a bit of a jolt, with the addition of a new Chevy Volt.
Dan Wolf Chevrolet of Naperville presented Mayor George Pradel and the city of Naperville with an eco-friendly Chevy Volt. The mayor was the first to test-drive the new vehicle at Naperville’s Test Track located on Jefferson Avenue. Mayor Pradel hopes his residents will realize electric cars are the future.
“We’re thrilled to have people see it on the street and ask all kinds of questions. Are you prepared for the electric future, for electric cars?” said the mayor. “And we can tell them yes we are preparing for it right now!”
The Volt runs on a four-hour electric charge. After the car depletes the electricity, it uses gasoline to power a generator to create more electricity.
Mayor Pradel will be the first to drive the Volt around town. After, each council member will have some time to experience driving the car.
The Volt will be stored at Naperville’s Municipal Building in spot two. The space is equipped with a charging station.
Chevrolet is currently allowed to sell one Volt per area per month in order to prevent saturation of the market.
