Changing Signs on Naperville Streets

The city will begin removing all of the yellow “Children at Play” signs from neighborhood streets due to changes in the state’s transportation standards.

Because the signs could give the message that playing in the street is okay, and because there isn’t an enforceable speed limit, the signs will be taken down and speed limit signs will be posted in their place.

“Twenty-five miles is the speed limit in our neighborhood and they should always be aware that they’re in a residential area and they should take caution when driving through the residential areas,” said Linda LaCloche, Communication Manager for the City of Naperville.

Crews will begin removing and replacing the nearly four hundred signs this month and continue as the weather permits.
