A local group has been drawing out the creativity and passion in aspiring artists for the past 50 years. Since 1961, the Naperville Art League has offered classes and open studio sessions for our town’s van Gogh’s and Picasso’s.
Their work is on display and for sale at the group’s gallery on Center Street.
And as the not-for-profit is proudly celebrating its semi-centennial anniversary, some of the artists showcased their current projects.
“I think its very exciting that the organization was able to sustain itself and flourish throughout all these years,” said Debbie Venezia, Executive Director of the Naperville Art League.
One long-time resident and league member says it’s not even the art itself that she loves most about the organization.
“It’s the people. It’s the people and the sense of accomplishment, you’re doing something,” said Maxine Butcher.
You can check out the league’s art exhibit every Wednesday through Saturday.
