Celebrity chef, Carla Hall, recently visited Anderson’s Bookshop to promote her new book “Carla’s Comfort Foods: Favorite Dishes From Around the World.”
The cookbook takes foods like burgers and chicken soup and adds international flavors for new ways to enjoy your comfort foods.
“Any kind of smothered dish in the south has milk gravy. You take the pan drippings, and make some milk gravy,” said Hall. “If you take the milk out and add sour cream and paprika, you could be in Hungry. And if you take the milk out and you add tomatoes and peppers, you could be in West Africa. Take the milk out and heavy cream, Dijon mustard, white wine, and tarragon and you could be in France. But at the end of the day, they’re all smothered chicken dishes.”
Hall is the co-host of ABC’s the chew and was a contestant on Bravo’s Top Chef, where she was known for her fun catchphrase “hootie hoo.”
Becky Anderson also sat down with Hall for an episode of authors revealed, check our website for a list of air times.
