95.9 The River hosted the third annual Float Your Boat For a Cause this weekend at Centennial Beach.
Cardboard boats raced on the waters to help spread the awareness of nine local charities.
“Working with the charity to build the boat and find the best design, and getting the boat together and actually getting in the water, it’s quite the exciting rush,” says on-air personality Danielle Tufano.
“It’s a nice team event and it gets a little camaraderie with the other jocks and stuff so it’s a lot of fun,” says on-air personality Beth Reynolds.
All nine organizations received 2,000 dollars for free advertising on the 95.9 station.
It was a great opportunity for these charities to stay connected with their community.
“The more people that find out about it, the more families we can help, the more donors we attract,” says Angelique Barthel, the executive director of Variety the Children’s Charity in Illinois. “It really just helps us make a bigger impact on the community the more we participate with our community and 95.9 allows us to do that.”
