For $250 members of the public are invited to purchase a brick, including up to three lines of engraving, to remember the service of Naperville’s finest.
It’s all part of the CAPS, or Citizens Appreciate Public Safety initiative.
“We have the public safety dedication program and it’s a way that you can actually put it into words, and your thoughts will be permanent. So the beauty of it is that it’s the first responders, it’s the families, it’s the community, it’s all of us communicating together saying ‘thank you’,” said CAPS Board Member David Wentz.
500 bricks were donated and installed by J.R. Landscaping at the Public Safety Plaza, with all proceeds going back to CAPS to be used to support the community.
The first two bricks to be installed were dedicated to the family of CAPS patron Sally Pentecost, and in memory of WWII veteran and Naperville resident, Jack McCambridge.
15 bricks have already been sold.
