The Naperville Police Department recently honored officers who have gone above and beyond the call of duty.
At the annual Citizens Appreciate Public Safety (CAPS) Awards Ceremony, the CAPS Board recognized officers thought the department for outstanding service.
Residents nominated officers for the CAPS Awards for their work in the community, which included Commander Michael Anders, Officer Vincent Clark, Officer Katie Koziol and Officer Brett Heun, Commander Kenneth Parcel, and Detective Richard Wistocki.
Officer Brian Kappelman was awarded the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners Award for his work with downtown businesses and residents.
The biggest honor of the night, the A. George Pradel award fro Service, was given to Detective Wistocki.
“I’m so happy to work for this department,” said Wistocki. “My SWAT brothers work tirelessly to keep this community safe and without them and without the community we couldn’t do it. It takes a community.”
