Seven local charities are letting their mission shine at Cantigny Park.
Inside the Robert McCormick Museum at Cantigny Park, seven Christmas trees have been decorated by charities in the area.
The charities were selected by the Robert McCormick Foundation because they align with causes important to Robert McCormick, and will be given a $2,500 dollar donation to support their cause.
“Categories are news literacy, journalism, education, diversity and veterans. Mr. McCormick himself was a big dog lover so we include organizations that promote and advocate for pet adoption and welfare,” said Will Buhlig, Assistant Director of the Robert R. McCormick Museum.
Some selected this year include Youth Outlook, the Midwest SOARRING Foundation and Dominican Literacy Center.
Visitors can vote for which tree they like the best to give an additional $2,500 to the organization’s tree.
Since the program started the Robert McCormick Foundation has given $140,000 to over 49 different charities.
The trees will be on display until December 29. For a full list of the charities participating, visit their website at www.cantigny.org.
