If you’ve ever wanted to grab a cup of joe with friends or co-workers but don’t know what to do with your kids, a new business in town is here to help. Café N Play lets parents, baby sitters or guardians grab their coffee while their kids get to blow off some steam.
Mom and business owner Cathy Subber took over the Naperville Mom’s Network, an online community for local moms, last year. The group of women often gets together for playgroups and lunches.
“Something that kept coming up was there weren’t a lot of places to take young kids,” said Subber. “There were larger places and there were a lot of places that had fast food and things like that. There wasn’t a place a place to call kind of our clubhouse.”
Subber decided to create a place where anyone can come and grab a cup of organic, fair-trade coffee, get a few healthy snacks provided by Belgios Catering, and let their kids get out some energy.
“We’ve developed a play town that consists of a train station, a little home, a princess castle and a pirate club house,” said Subber. “They are little rooms that are built out to look like that concept and they have little toys to go along with it.”
“Skylyn always talks about dressing up. She loves coming here and dressing up,” said Aurora resident Corey Worden about his two-year-old daughter.
In addition to the play town, there’s also a playground and an enclosed area for crawlers.
“It’s nice for the kids to crawl around and play without getting into trouble,” said Jasmine Johnson, Aurora resident.
Subber opened Café N Play right next door to her chiropractic office Advanced Health of Naperville.
“I’ve been in practice here for 13 years, and I knew that if I wanted to do something else I wanted it to be right next door,” said Subber. “So you’ll see me running back and forth between my chiropractic practice and here. It keeps me busy, but I love it and I love being able to be a resource in the community and having a place where people can really connect.”
Café N Play is open Monday through Saturday. For more information, visit their website at cafénplay.com.
