The newest pop-up exhibit at the DuPage Children’s Museum encourages kids to bring their imagination to life, brick-by-brick.
“Build it Small, Build it Tall” has kids building with LEGO bricks and DUPLO blocks on the floor, tables, and even walls.
There’s lots of space for kids to build whatever they want, and there are stations meant to create a specific challenge – making a car to run down a ramp, building a bridge from one island to the next, or constructing a city on a river.
“So there are some familiar spaces, but they’re open ended enough to allow for total open-ended expression and creative play,” said Thomas Sullivan, director of education and programs for the DuPage Children’s Museum.
Of course, grown-ups are welcome to get in on the fun and build with kids, or on their own.
And with these display cases, your creations can even become part of the exhibit itself.
“We absolutely encourage that if you built something you’re incredibly proud of, any one of our play facilitators here can help you install it in the exhibit right there,” said Sullivan.
Build it small, build it tall, will be at the DuPage Children’s Museum through September 2.
