A candidate for Illinois governor recently made a campaign stop in Lisle.
Republican nominee Bruce Rauner spoke to a room of about 200 Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce members at the Hilton Lisle Naperville during a monthly legislative meeting.
While outlining his plans for Springfield, Rauner said he wants to bring business back to the state and criticized Illinois’ inability to be a strong commerce state.
“We are a disaster,” said Rauner. “We have every reason to be prosperous, and the most rapidly growing strongest state in America. We’ve got the best people. We’ve got the best location. We have fertile farms and the capitol heart of America here. We should be thriving.”
The event was originally closed to the press, but Rauner’s camp lifted the media ban hours before it started.
Rauner will face Governor Pat Quinn in the general election in November.
