There was plenty of pink at Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day, better known as BRA Day.
Patients, survivors, and their families enjoyed the educational event, many of whom were excited to hear from the night’s featured speakers.
“I came because I would like to hear some of the doctors speak,” said breast cancer survivor, Kathy Bax. “Since my own experience with breast cancer many people have approached me who are now facing this battle and I’m particularly interested to hear the doctors speak on what the cutting technologies are, the new developments, and the things that women have to look forward to in this battle.”
More was available at the information booth area, where you could have fun playing bra pong, get your hair pampered pink, or talk to experts and get your questions answered.
“For us it’s fun because it gives us a chance to highlight what we do on a daily basis. It’s an educational event and it’s fun because we can show to the community what options are available for breast reconstruction,” said Dr. Lucio Pavone, a plastic and reconstruction surgeon at Edward.
BRA Day wasn’t going to be complete without a “Best Bra” competition. The Cancer Center departments decorated bras and it was up to everyone else to vote on their favorite.
Bringing a little pink fun to promote awareness for breast cancer.
