At their latest meeting, the District 203 School Board approved of a new education enrichment program.
Board members unanimously voted to let the company “KU Champions, LLC,” pilot a before and after school program at two area schools, Beebe and Ranchview Elementary Schools.
Enrolled students can get additional time for homework help, sports, science labs, and literacy improvement.
“It gives the student the opportunity to be engaged, have fun, and learning something and maybe not even realize that their learning,” said Kevin Bryant, Manager of Business Development for Champions.
Parents who opt for this program pay for it entirely so it won’t cost the district at all and Champions may offer scholarships to families who can’t afford it.
The group will also hire and train only local teachers.
