City Council conducted a first reading to increase the number of late night permits from 18 to 19. The addition would allow a fourth Ballydoyle location to come to downtown Naperville.
Their newest location will be known as The Empire at Ballydoyle, and will specialize in craft beer, craft burgers and live music with a target audience of 30-55.
Their proposed location is the old Rosebud on the corner of Chicago Avenue and Main Street, which previously was the creamery for Prince Castle/Cock Robin.
“This building is waiting for the right buyer. This guy is it,” said Councilwoman Judy Brodhead.
However, with multiple late night incidents in the past, not all councilmen were for the increase. Councilman Grant Wehrli urged staff to crunch a few numbers before he would approve the establishment.
“Chief Marshall, you say point plank in your write up that if this is approved, you will require more assets. Can you put some dollars behind that and sort of build that out? And Mr. City Manager, can you find a revenue stream to pay for that?” said Councilman Grant Wehrli.
Council plans to revisit the discussion at their May 7th meeting.
