Consisting of seven trees nestled between two root plates, the new piece was designed ahead of Knoch Knoll’s Nature Art Week, which is August 6-14.
“There is a secret hidden inside of this project. There are seven trees behind you; each one of those stands for a letter in a hidden word. I am asking people to come out and learn a little about tree identification and engage their senses with the natural world, to figure out the secret that is hidden within the project,” said Environmental Artist Jenny Kendler.
Environmental Artist Jenny Kendler installed the piece, titled ‘See The Forest (For The Trees)’, in collaboration with the Bartlett Tree Experts and the Naperville Park District.
“If people are really going to take something away from this project, what I am really interested in is them thinking a little bit more deeply about their connection to the natural world and reengaging their sense, taking time to actually look closely at trees, think about how remarkable they are,” said Kendler.
You can now come out to see the exhibit, and try to identify all seven trees.
The artist will be discussing the piece at Knoch Knolls Nature Center on August 14.
