A Wisconsin man was recently arrested for allegedly posting threatening social media messages directed at a local college.
20-year-old Aden Khan was arrested Madison on March 29, and charged with disorderly conduct for posting a threatening message to a Facebook page associated with North Central College.
The page, titled North Central Confessions, allowed students to submit college specific secrets anonymously that were the posted to a public Facebook group.
The message in question was found by a member of North Central’s staff on March 5, and was reported to authorities. The Naperville High Tech Crimes Unit was able to pinpoint the origin of the post to Madison, Wisconsin.
The Naperville Police Department said in a press release, “there was no immediate threat to students.”
The DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office, along with the Naperville Police Department, confirmed Kahn was never a student at the institution.
Khan will now be extradited to Illinois for a court date, which has not yet been set.
