A local veteran received some Major League honors at Wrigley Field.
World War II veteran Arnold Massier was honored by the Chicago Cubs at their July 11 game against the White Sox.
“I know that day they said that it was 45,000 people down there and I looked at the side there and all those people all up in the air, I mean they were up in the air and they were all around over there. I enjoyed watching baseball,” said Massier.
During the game, the Naperville resident was brought to center field. Where he waved to the entire crowd, who cheered loudly to show their appreciation for his service in World War II, which included being a prisoner of war for a year and a half and earning a purple heart.
