A player from one of the American Hockey Leagues’ premier teams recently skated into Naperville.
Stefan Schneider of the Chicago Wolves was at the 95th Street Library signing autographs and answering questions for fans.
One lucky child was even chosen to model official Chicago Wolves hockey gear.
Schneider’s visit was part of the “Read to Succeed” program that stresses the importance of reading for elementary school children. He remembers attending similar programs when he was young.
“Oh its great. I’ve been to many of these growing up,” Schneider said. “So its always nice to see someone in their shoes. But to be in these shoes, it’s good. I like to just try and give back and kind of give my experience, like most have done for me.“
Four other players along with Schnieder made appearances at eight other libraries in the Chicagoland area.
