One Naperville based retailer recently enhanced the classrooms of many local teachers.
Office Max surprised seven District 203 and 204 teachers as part of their “A Day Made Better” Contest.
Each winning teacher received over $1,000 in school supplies for their classrooms.
“It’s just nice that Office Max recognizes that we try to make it all about the kids,” said Kelly Talaga, a Learning Support Coach for Elmwood Elementary in District 203. “These supplies are really for them. They are not for us, they are for us to teach them in the best way we can.”
“There was water damage to some of my things,” said Jennifer Thompson, a 3rd grade teacher at Patterson Elementary School in District 204. “And, you come back at the beginning of the year and you have to find out what is damaged and what you have to replace. And to receive over, what I was told, $1,000 in new supplies for my classroom is unbelievable.”
Principals can nominate one teacher from their staff for the national award each year by writing an essay.
1,000 teachers nationwide were surprised by Office Max, totaling $1,000,000 in new supplies.
