City Wants Events to Move Away from Downtown

The dates and spaces of 54 events like races, parades and festivals, including six new events, were recently approved to take place in the city next year.

However, because of complaints of congestion in downtown and central Naperville, the city will encourage some of those events to move elsewhere.

The special events calendar is officially closed and anyone looking to host a major event will be placed on a waiting list in the case of a cancellation.

Some of the new events for next year include a Naperville women’s half marathon and a kids marathon event.

Naperville News 17’s Alyssa Bochenek reports.
