Shake Ups at COD

The chairwoman of the board of trustees at the college stepped down from her role after seven months on the job, citing personal reasons for her decision.

In a letter sent to the Interim President Joseph Collins and trustees, she stated:

“I have enjoyed working together with my fellow trustees to build upon the strengths of COD and address its future needs. I will miss the collaboration and energetic debate that marks the cod board as one that is so caring and committed to all of its stakeholders.”

Hamilton joined the board nearly three years ago, stepping up to her leadership role on April 30th of this year. She took charge amid a number of controversies at the school, including federal and state investigations into questionable financial practices at the school, and the decision to award a sizable retirement package to former president Robert Breuder, who was later fired under Hamilton’s tenure – as were two top financial officers.

All three of those ousted claim they were terminated as part of Hamilton’s political agenda, and have filed lawsuits to that effect.
The board has 60 days to come up with Hamilton’s replacement: if unable to do so, one will be appointed by the Illinois Community College Board.
