The fourth annual Junior Tour-de-Naperville was off to the races this weekend at Commissioners Park.
Over 100 kids between the ages of three and ten hit the one and a quarter mile trail with the support of family and friends.
“It’s just something that the kids enjoy,” says program manager Fred Gusel. “They get to be outside with their families, siblings, brothers and sisters, cousins. They get to ride their bike out. We just think it’s a fun event for the kids.”
Along the way, bikers could stop for a drink or snack.
“I know but I didn’t want to, because it could slow me down,” says participant Jimmy Kouvelis.
And at the finish line, park police handed out free ice cream tickets for riding safely.
The Junior Tour-de-Naperville began in 2013 to celebrate the 100th edition of the Tour-de-France.
This event is expected to return in future summers.
