Can you spell the word “casern”? The winners of a recent competition did, and it was all for a good cause.
Participants had their thinking caps on for the first annual “2 Bee or Not 2 Bee” spelling bee at the NIU-Naperville campus.
360 Youth Services drew representatives from various Naperville area organizations, who made up the nine team competition.
Comedian Mike Toomey entertained the audience with a sides splitting stand-up routine, which still MC’ing the event.
Sally Nabors, Nic Belmonte, and Marc Rumaner from the Design Resource Center in Naperville rose to the brain-busting challenge and won it all.
“Tonight this the first time for the community. We are kind of making this up as we go along and hoping for the best. I think it will be hilarious. Because even if we mess up, it will be funny,” says Ron Hume, Executive Director of 360 Youth Services.
All proceeds from the event will go to 360 Youth Services, who provide life-changing services to the youth in the community.
