Before the school year started, the District 203 School Board held their second August meeting.
The board began by honoring the Team 203 Special Olympics State Track Champions, who earned medals in events ranging from the 100 meter run to softball throwing.
“On behalf of the board of education and the district, congratulations to our student athletes for all of the hard work and effort that went into your accomplishments. We’re so proud of you and we’re pleased to recognize you this evening,” said Superintendent of District 203, Dan Bridges.
Later in the meeting, the board voted to keep medical, prescription, vision and dental insurance rates the same for their employees. To help keep the rates flat, they redesigned parts of the insurance plans, which is estimated to save the district $2.1 million in 2017.
The next 203 board meeting will be on Tuesday September 6.
