As the 2014 Last Fling came to a close, hundreds of participants raced to the finish of their Labor Day weekend.
The Fling Mile began at Naperville North High School and ran over to Naperville’s Municipal Center.
After the mile, residents lined the streets of Naperville ready to watch the parade.
Mayor George Pradel was chosen as the parade’s Grand Marshal in appreciation for his service in the U.S. Marine Corps.
As marchers headed down the route, they were met with some rain – but that didn’t stop residents from sticking it out and enjoying the many parade participants.
“Definitely probably the marching bands, seeing all the kids marching,” said Mary Sarah Hoole Whitehouse, attendee.
People packed the downtown area to see local marching bands, businesses, and even tractors – all to honor the military heroes who served to protect our freedom.
Happy Labor Day!
