This morning The School of Performing Arts received a special delivery. So special, that they are the only school in the area to get them.
“It’s the Rolls Royce of pianos,” said Juanita Nash, Artistic Director for the School of Performing Arts.
The school recently bought ten new top of the line Steinway pianos: eight upright and two grand models to help set a new standard for student performance.
“To have all new pianos, and Steinway pianos really raises the bar for the school,” said Nash. “It enhances the quality of music. It’s going to be attracting more students to the school. And just to have the Steinway name makes us a supreme school for the performing arts.”
Some students and faculty were on hand to watch the pianos arrive.
The institution becomes one of only 150 All-Steinway schools in the nation.
“The School of Performing Arts in Naperville is the first school in Chicago to make this kind of commitment to their students,” said Mary Ann Covone, Institutional Manager for Steinway & Sons in Chicago. “And what it says is that we, The School of Performing Arts in Naperville, are as committed to excellence as Steinway and Sons.”
The school will host an Open House and Ribbon Cutting officially unveiling the pianos to the public on September 15.
