Suspicious Man At Kendall Elementary | Filson Coming To Naperville | St. John Farmers Market Opens

Suspicious Man at Kendall Elementary:

A suspicious man was seen looking into the windows of Kendall Elementary School just before yesterday’s dismissal, according to the Naperville Police Department. The person is described as a 25-year-old white male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. He left the school grounds in a gray SUV-type vehicle before police arrived. Please contact the Naperville Police Department at (630) 420-6666 with any information.

Filson Comes to Downtown Naperville:

Filson will be moving in to downtown Naperville on the site of the old Russell’s Dry Cleaners building. The outdoor outfitter and accessories store has chosen Naperville for their first Illinois location. They’ll be leasing part of the new building going up on the corner of Main Street and Jefferson, where Russell’s Dry Cleaners once stood until its closing in 2017. The cleaners’ owner, Russell Breitwieser, still owns the property. The new building should be completed this summer.

St. John’s Farmers Market Opens:

Fresh produce, local honey, snacks, and more were available yesterday at the opening day for the St. John’s Farmers Market. Shoppers got the chance to peruse the wide variety of vendors that have kept the market open now into its seventh year. All of the proceeds from renting the space for vendors go toward local charities. Stop by any Wednesday between 3 and 7 p.m., weather permitting – you might even get a free sample of some of their delicious offerings!

State Playoff Results:

At the boys state tennis meet, Naperville Central doubles team of Blake Roegner and Daanyal Saeed finished in second place, the best finish for a doubles pairing in school history.

And last night the two-time defending state champion Neuqua Valley varsity rugby team fell 36-33 in a very competitive state championship match against Brother Rice. The Neuqua Junior Varsity did win the state championship over Marist earlier in the week. Congratulations to all our local athletes on a great season.
