New Year’s Eve is nearly here, and you can countdown right here in Naperville at Rotary Hill – twice! For those who don’t want to stay up late, there’s a 6 p.m. countdown hosted by the Naperville Park District, with balloon artists and free hot chocolate. Then later that night, you can gather for the real countdown to midnight, and ring in 2019 with tunes from the Carillon.
New Year’s Eve at DCM
A chance for the younger kids to celebrate comes from the DuPage Children’s Museum. Their Fun Family New Year’s Eve 2018 Party starts at 9 a.m., when kids can explore exhibits, enjoy special activities, and listen to live music. You can then choose how you’d like to ring in the noon countdown to New Year’s – whether through confetti, bubbles or quiet fun. You can get tickets on the museum’s website.
Local NFL Players
With the NFL regular season wrapping up this weekend, we’d like to recognize three local football players who had a very successful 2018. Naperville Central grad Cameron Brate did not quite match his 2016 breakout season, but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end did catch at least 6 touchdown passes for a third straight year.
Naperville North alum Matt Lacosse had a career year with the Denver Broncos with over 15 catches, including his first career touchdown in week 12.
Fellow former Huskie James O’Shaughnessy also had his best professional season as a tight end, setting new career highs in both receptions and yards with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
