Ribfest Changes Location
The Exchange Club of Naperville’s Ribfest will have a new home in 2020. The annual Fourth of July weekend celebration has been held in the Naperville Park District’s Knoch Park since 1989 and has grown into one of the largest festivals in the Chicago suburbs. Due to redevelopment by the park district planned for the area after next year’s Ribfest, the Exchange Club will be unable to hold their event in Knoch Park in 2020. The club has yet to announce the new site and it is possible the event will be held outside of Naperville.
Naperville School Districts Recognized
Both Naperville school districts have been named to the AP Honor Roll – a recognition only achieved by 22 school districts in the state. The Advanced Placement award is given to districts who show increased participation in AP courses over a three year period, as well as at least maintaining the number of students from minority groups passing AP exams. This is the second year in a row on the honor roll for District 203 and the third in a row for District 204.

The Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce announced yesterday that it has surpassed its $250,000 fundraising goal for its Future Forward Campaign. The chamber will use the funds to update its technology and communications systems to better serve businesses in Naperville.
IHSA Football Shakeup
A huge change was announced yesterday in the IHSA football landscape. Beginning in 2021, conference play will be abolished in favor of a regional districting system. There will still be eight football classes and 64 schools from each class will be placed into eight geographical district groups by the IHSA office. The top four finishers in each district will earn playoff spots, making up the 32-team playoff bracket. Traditionally, Neuqua Valley, Metea Valley, Waubonsie Valley, Naperville Central and Naperville North have competed in class 8A, while Benet Academy has played in 7A – although the Redwings did compete in 8A as recently as 2014.
