Demonstrators gathered on Jackson Avenue near the Dandelion Fountain last night in support of the Robert Mueller investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election. An estimated 400 people, including Congressman-elect Sean Casten came out as part of a nationwide protest in response to the forced resignation of former U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
You might be buying alcohol with cash at next year’s Ribfest. The Naperville Liquor Commission is considering allowing Ribfest to go back to cash purchases after it moved to beverage tickets several years ago due to thefts by event volunteers. The commission feels with better internal control, those thefts could be minimized. City staff was asked to come back to the next meeting with a report on how other large festivals in the area handle adult beverage sales.
Helicopter at Metea
A Military Blackhawk Helicopter landed at Metea Valley High School this morning as part of the school’s Veteran’s Day Celebration. The Blackhawk was joined by a military HumVee truck and members of the Illinois National Guard. Students and honored guests were able to take pictures inside and next to the helicopter.
First Snow of the Season
If you looked out your window late last night or this morning, you would have seen the first snow of the season. That’s early based on Chicago’s average first snow, which is measured as at least 1/10th of an inch at O’Hare International Airport. The average first snow of the year falls on November 17, while in 2006, Chicagoland had its earliest ever snow of the season on October 12.
Benet Volleyball goes to State
It’s a big weekend for a Naperville area team. Benet Academy Girl’s Volleyball travels down to Illinois State University tonight to compete in the IHSA class 4A state tournament. The last time the Redwings made this trip was in 2014 and they brought home the state trophy. Tonight, they face Marist in the Semifinal round and, depending on if they win or lose that game, they either play for third place or first place tomorrow night.
