Former Financial Officer Charged

The former chief financial officer for Naperville School District 203 was charged for misconduct and theft from her previous employer. The DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office investigated and charged Marcie Boyan with stealing more than $11,000 worth of “My Bank…My Rewards” credit card points for personal use from her former employer Addison Elementary District 4. District 203 learned of the investigation in July of this year and placed Boyan on administrative leave. Boyan then tendered her resignation on August 24. District 203 said in a release that an audit of their financials was conducted by an independent agency, which found no reason to believe any impropriety occurred during Boyan’s tenure at 203.

Shop Safe Safer Naper

The holiday season is already upon us, so this month the Naperville Police Department has dedicated A Safer Naper to shopping smart. The NPD suggests if you’re going out to stores, remember to be aware of your surroundings and only carry the necessary amount of cash and cards with you. If you prefer online shopping, the NPD recommends checking that a site is secure before ordering from it. You should also use credit cards as opposed to debit cards, as credit cards provide additional security layers when shopping online. For more shopping tips you can check out the City of Naperville’s website.

Sleep Out Saturday

This Saturday folks will sleep outside in boxes for a good cause. Sleep Out Saturday will encourage hundreds in the area to camp out in tents, cardboard boxes, and cars to raise funds and awareness for families that live in homelessness. The program is organized by Bridge Communities and you can check their website for participating groups to join in on November 3.
