Amazon Jobs Day:

Hundreds came out this morning to Amazon in Romeoville for their massive hiring event. It was part of “Amazon Jobs Day,” a nationwide job fair held by the online retail giant, in which 50,000 people are being hired on the spot. About 2,500 of those slots were filled in our area through the Romeoville event, which placed workers at their warehouse there, along with the Joliet and Monee locations. The fair took place over just 4 hours, from 8 a.m. until noon.

National Night Out:

Last night neighbors around Naperville came together for National Night Out. The annual nationwide event encourages folks to get out of their homes and join with their neighbors and local city employees to have some fun while building relationships and uniting in crime awareness and drug prevention. Last night was the second part of Naperville’s celebration – on Sunday, the city will hold an emergency vehicle show downtown as the third and final event.

Quidditch in Naperville:

Muggles grabbed their broomsticks and headed to Wil-O-Way Park yesterday for a game of Quidditch. The magical sport, created by JK Rowling in the Harry Potter novels, was brought to life thanks to the Naperville Public Library, who invited teens to a training session by Loyola University’s Quidditch team so they could then hold a match of their own. The game was held in celebration of Harry Potter’s birthday on July 31st.
