Ride Closed at Fair
The “Freak Out” ride at the DuPage County Fair will not be in operation today. The ride, which is similar to the “Fire Ball,” was closed in light of the deadly accident at the Ohio State Fair yesterday. The closure was done under the orders of the Illinois Department of Labor, who requested inspectors cease operations on any such rides until further notice.
Today Cantigny Park is celebrating what would be the 137th birthday of its benefactor, Colonel Robert R. McCormick. The park will have free admission all day, with special activities like crafts, history presentations and a “pop up” of the First Division Museum, which is currently under construction.
Mammals & More
Over 100 kids came to the Naperville Public Library’s Mammals and More program last night. Those in attendance got to learn more about several exotic and endangered animals from the Flying Fox Conservation Fund. They then got the chance to touch several of the critters, like an African straw-colored fruit bat, kinkajou and even a sloth.
