Fire Department 5K
A new 5k is coming to town courtesy of the Naperville Professional Firefighters for a Cause and the Naperville Fire Department. The inaugural Stop, Drop and Run 5K Run/Walk will take place on October 14, to raise awareness and funds for the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance’s Camp ‘I Am Me,’ a special one-week camp for children and teens who have injuries from burns. Registration for the run is now open.
Alive Seeks Expansion
The Alive Center in Naperville is looking to expand, but needs the community’s help. The teen center hopes to rent out the 3,200 square foot space next door and convert it into a dedicated space for STEM and other educational programs, including things like a tech lab and multimedia room. To do this, they need roughly $100,000 in donations. The center is offering naming rights for the new spaces to sponsoring individuals or organizations.
Last Fling Lineup
Several new acts have been announced for the Naperville Jaycees Last Fling Main Stage lineup. On Friday, September 1 “The Voice” Season 9 runner up Emily Ann Roberts and the band LANCO will both perform. On Saturday, September 2, first up is Cinderella’s Tom Keifer, followed by Bret Michaels. And on Sunday, September 3, Soul Asylum will play the stage before headliner Barenaked Ladies. There are still more acts to be announced for Monday, September 4 and for the other entertainment stages.

Neuqua Valley’s Alyssa Bombacino earned her spot after leading the regional champion Wildcats with 15 goals. The Marquette commit will return for her senior season next spring. Metea Valley forward Nikki Hernandez was also named All-Region. The recent graduate helped lead the Mustangs to a sectional final berth and will play collegiately at Michigan this fall.
