Fire and Police Water Rescue
Naperville fire and police personnel rescued an 11-year-old boy yesterday afternoon after he fell through an iced over retention pond. The fire department arrived at the pond located in an apartment complex on 1300 block of McDowell Road at 4:49 p.m. Firefighter/Paramedic Mike Leston pulled the boy ashore just four minutes later. The boy was taken to Edward Hospital in stable condition. The fire department would like to remind residents to use caution around bodies of water; while it may appear frozen, it’s often not thick enough to support much weight.

Wentz Drops City Council Bid
Former Naperville City Council member David Wentz is no longer running for a return seat there. Mayor Steve Chirico has named Wentz as his choice for appointment to the city’s Naper Settlement Museum board. That leaves 11 people still in the running for four seats on the dais. City council will vote on Wentz’s appointment to the board at tomorrow night’s meeting.
