Labor Day Weekend Arrests

The Naperville Police Department made five impaired driving arrests during the Labor Day “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” crackdown. 28 seat belt citations were also given during the extra enforcement, which lasted from August 16 through September 3. The program was administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

City Hall Parking Improvements

On Monday, construction will begin on the upper level of the Municipal Center parking lot. The almost 30-year-old parking deck will get concrete patching, sidewalk replacement, reconstruction of an ADA accessible ramp, and staircase handrail replacement. The work will take place in stages, with one entrance to each level of the deck always being maintained. No parking spaces on the upper deck will be removed from service during construction, and it’s all scheduled to be completed by the end of November.

DuPage County Recycling Event

Have old propane tanks or paint that need to be recycled? Well DuPage County Public Works is putting on a recycling event to help you with just that. Bring your unwanted paints, packaging Styrofoam, propane tanks, and cooking oil to the Greene Valley Wastewater Treatment Facility in Woodridge on Saturday. There’s a small fee for recycling latex and oil-based paints, but all other items you recycle are accepted for free. You can drop it all off from 8 a.m. to noon. If you have other items that need to be recycled, check out the DuPage County’s online recycling guide.

Dual Authors at Anderson’s

Tonight you can join actress and podcaster June Diane Raphael and policy advisor Kate Black to learn all about their new book, Represent: The Woman’s Guide to Running for Office and Changing the World. The free event is open to the public who can hear from the co-authors about their step-by-step tips for running for a political office. You can even bring in your own copy of the book to get it signed by them. The event begins at Anderson’s Bookshop at 7 p.m.
