Jeopardy James Returns | D204 Drops Half Days | Climate Change Forum

Jeopardy James Returns:

Jeopardy James will be returning to the show that shot him to fame. It’s been announced that Naperville native James Holzhauer will compete on the show’s Tournament of Champions in November. Holzhauer will join 14 other top players including Emma Boettcher, who famously ended his 32-game run. The top prize for this play-off is $250,000. Not bad, but a far cry from the more than $2.46 million he netted during his streak on the show earlier this year. The tournament will air November 4 through 15.

D204 Drops Half Days:

Indian Prairie School District 204 has dropped half days from their 2019-2020 school calendar. Those that had previously been scheduled were combined to make them full days off. The change was made after state legislation passed in June allowed for a bit more flexibility in how schools set up their teacher institute days and outside of the classroom learning. The first and last days of school, along with spring break, were not affected by the change.

Climate Change Forum:

Representatives Sean Casten and Bill Foster will be joining WGN meteorologist Tom Skilling and other weather experts at a climate change forum this Saturday. Topics discussed will include environmental shifts due to climate change, and what can be done to help prevent it. The free public forum will be held at North Central College’s Wentz Hall from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Local All State Players:

The Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association released the 2019 All State baseball teams. Three local athletes were selected as members of the 4A team this year.

Naperville North senior outfielder and DVC player of the year Cliff Vickers made All State behind a .454 batting average and a .521 on base percentage.

Senior Jake Kmiecik from Metea Valley proved to be a dual threat, showcasing a 4-0 record and a 1.62 ERA on the mound while scoring 40 runs and stealing 22 bases at the plate.

Junior Cade Sullivan was also an All State pick for the Mustangs after hitting .463 with 8 home runs and 31 RBI. Sullivan was also named first team All State by Prep Baseball Report.
