Buffalo Wild Wings Firings
The Buffalo Wild Wings in Naperville fired employees who allegedly asked a group of customers to move because of their race. Mary Vahl was at the restaurant on 75th Street with a group of 18, mostly African-American customers on October 26. They say an employee asked one of them “what race are you guys?” because two restaurant regulars didn’t want to sit next to them and are “racist”. After several managers asked the group to move tables, they eventually left the restaurant. Buffalo Wild Wings has since fired those involved, saying in a statement: “We take this incident very seriously and after conducting a thorough, internal investigation have terminated the employees involved. Buffalo Wild Wings values an inclusive environment and has zero tolerance for discrimination of any kind.” Naperville City Councilman Benny White, who has led many diversity discussions this year, has expressed that he was saddened to hear about the incident, and plans to speak about it at tomorrow night’s council meeting.
