This month on Naperville Notables, host Liz Spencer sat down with Mayor Steve Chirico as he wraps up his first year in office.
The conversation included Chirico’s thoughts on business development as it was a big part of Mayor Chirico’s plans for his first year and he credits communication and collaboration with other community stakeholders as key to this year’s success.
Chirico also spoke highly of the City Council members. This past election was a historic one with all eight Council seats up for election and many of the current Council are serving their first term. The group faced many tough decisions in the first few months of their term including an increase in the sales tax for Naperville.
On the more personal side, Mayor Chirico talked about the influence the late Bill Young had on his life and the importance of mentors in growing up. He also shared how Mayor Emeritus George Pradel helps him to have some family time and to focus on other city matters.
