Hiring Veterans

On this month’s edition of “Career Center”, Community Career Center volunteer, Noreen Peterson shares her expertise on how best to articulate one’s skills, strengths and abilities in order to help a prospective employer see the value they will bring to their organization. Recognizing November is the month where Veterans are celebrated, Service Office Mike Barbour defines a military friendly company, why it is beneficial for companies to consider hiring veterans and why veterans make good employees.

The Community Career Center provides a supportive and professional setting where job seekers can conduct an effective and successful job search. In addition, a professional staff of trained volunteers is available for individual consultation to assist job seekers in setting reasonable goals and implementing strategies that meet their specific needs. Perhaps the most unique feature about the Center is the one-on-one appointments which include: resume writing, networking, interviewing skills, job search strategy, career counseling, and basic computer skills. This provides the ability to customize the Center’s resources to the individual job seeker’s needs. Programs and services are available without geographic restrictions.
