2015 was a unique year for the already-special Healing Field of Honor. In less than an hour, volunteers placed 2,015 American flags on Rotary Hill as part of the annual event. That year, however, also marked the 50th anniversary of the beginning of the Vietnam War.

On Veterans Day 2007, Naperville residents of all generations gathered for the dedication of “Veterans Valor.” The statue immortalizes five local veterans, four who received the silver star and one the distinguished flying cross.

Naperville, Illinois and Nitra, Slovakia may have more in common than one might think, which is why it’s only fitting the two would become sister sisters. The partnership was officially formalized in November of 1993, though Naperville citizens had been exploring the possibility for four years prior.

Throughout 2011, North Central College staff, students, alumni, and the greater community enjoyed festivities commemorating the college’s 150-year history.

In the fall of 1997, teenagers in south Naperville stepped foot inside the city’s newest school for the first time. Neuqua Valley High School opened its doors to 950 freshman and sophomores after three years of construction.

The opening of the Wentz Concert Hall and Fine Arts Center was music to the community’s ears. The state-of-the-art building has hosted many professional concerts since its grand opening in 2009.
