Naperville North graduates, James O’Shaughnessy ’10, Matt Lacosse ’11, and Sammy Marshall ’11, were back in town to be honored by the school for making it to the professional level as athletes. Tight End James O’Shaughnessy was drafted in the 5th round by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2015 after a successful career at Illinois State. Matt Lacosse went undrafted in 2015, but eventually found a home and the playing field for the New York Giants this past season. Like O’Shaughnessy, Lacosse played tight end in college at the University of Illinois after playing a different position in high school. Lacosse was the quarterback for the Huskies during his senior season, while O’Shaughnessy spent his time at North as a wide receiver. Sammy Marshall had a record breaking career at shortstop with Western Illinois on the softball field before being drafted by the Chicago Bandits in the spring of 2015. These elite athletes were able to be recognized by the school and Naperville community, while offering inspiration and insight to those looking to follow in their footsteps.
