“Naperville Connection” - Your Link to Community News
One of Naperville Community Television’s fastest growing shows is Naperville Connection. Hosted by the charismatic broadcaster Dolly McCarthy, Naperville Connection has evolved into a leading source of community news. Associate Producer/Writer Lindsey Theis makes sure Naperville Connection reflects the pulse and heart of the Naperville area.
Numerous feature highlights taped on location bring the viewer up close to the people and places of our neighborhoods. We’ve traveled to the Police & Fire Departments Battle of the Badges blood drive; Associate Producer Elitsa Bizios even invited the cameras to stay with her while she demonstrated how easy it is to give the gift of life. We’ve sent crews along as the Naperville School District 203 Teacher Innovator of the month is surprised with the award. The popular Naperville Connection segment Authors Revealed with Becky Anderson continues to result in exclusive interviews with authors such as Jodi Picoult, Jenna Bush, and Henry Winkler. We’re very pleased to honor those who have served our country; our Veteran’s Day coverage of the unveiling of the Veteran’s Valor statue further recognized the sacrifice our veterans have made. And we are happy to celebrate community efforts such as the dedication of the Moser Tower. We also include informative city news such as the Wi-Fi initiative. Along the way, you’ll see clips and highlights from popular annual community festivals including Naper Days, RibFest, and the Last Fling.
Rounding out every Naperville Connection is the segment NCTV Weekly where Elitsa Bizios gives a preview of upcoming NCTV17 programs. “Naperville Connection” can be seen four times every day at 7:30 am; 12 noon, 6 pm & 9 pm on Channel 17 and on our website www.nctv17.com through simultaneous video streaming provided by ZEZAN Data Center. Dolly McCarthy
Dolly McCarthy is a veteran broadcaster and an award-winning journalist. She brings to NCTV over 10 years of broadcast experience in radio, TV and cable. Dolly has worked as a news anchor, producer and writer at WCIU Chicago. Prior to that, she was a news assignment planner at CBS, Channel 2 Chicago; an assistant producer and voice-over writer at WPWR Chicago as well as a news producer and reporter for WTVO, Rockford, and TV8 News in DeKalb. Dolly has also hosted community television programs for Elk Grove Village and she is very excited to be a part of the NCTV team.
When Dolly isn’t taping Naperville Connection, she is a proud stay-at-home Mom to five children. She and her husband Patrick have lived inNaperville for 10 years. Dolly spends her free time volunteering at the PADS shelter, her children’s school and the Girl Scouts of DuPage. She is also actively involved with the West Suburban Irish community group as well as President and founder of the Parent RE group at Sts. Peter and Paul Church. She is an enthusiastic supporter of The Conservation Foundation. Dolly was born and raised on Chicago’s Northwest side where she was the eleventh of fourteen children. She loves live music and community theatre, and is an avid photographer and movie buff. Dolly received her bachelor degree in Broadcast Journalism from NIU.

Elitsa Bizios, Associate Producer/Host NCTV Weekly
An alumni of Naperville North High School, Elitsa Bizios is currently attending Columbia College in Chicago. She has worked on NCTV17's high school internship program, participated in Naperville Decision 2007 election coverage, and now is the producer of NCTV Weekly, a segment in Naperville Connection spoltlighting both NCTV17 programs and its dedicated and talented producers. She also produces the monthly talk-show Spotlight on Naperville, bringing attention and raising awarness of local not-for-profit groups. She was featured in Naperville Glancer magazine as “Someone to Know." |

Lindsey Theis, Associate Producer/Writer
Lindsey Theis has brought a valuable community news focus to the Naperville Connection team resulting in a variety of informative and engaging stories. As a graduate of North Central College in Broadcast Communication, she has worked on numerous projects at Naperville Community Television, Channel 17. Lindsey served as Associate Producer for Naperville Decision 2007election coverage and the candidate forums; and The Naperville Riverwalk: The First 25 Years documentary. She also writes weekly columns highlighting NCTV17 programming for The Naperville Sun. In addition, she is a part time producer for WGN Radio. |
