The College of DuPage is raising the cost of tuition four dollars per credit hour.
The total cost per credit now sits at 140 dollars including fees.
Administrators say the increase is needed to offset a 3.55 percent increase in COD staff salaries.
The increased salaries are expected to cost the college an additional 3.6 million dollars.
An expected 14 million dollar tax levy is expected to help cover costs leaving a 2.2 million dollar shortfall that administrators say the tuition increase will cover.
College of DuPage remains cheaper than attending state or private universities.
