Along with rising obesity, convenience eating and spending has become a national epidemic.
The Naperville Public Library has been chosen by the American Library Association as the site for a pilot program that looks to curb these issues.
“Healthy, Wealthy and Wise” will inform the community on how to manage money and wealth.
“Libraries have changed a lot in the past couple of years. E-books, electronic resources – how people use the library has changed substantially,” said John Spears, Executive Director of the Naperville Public Library. “But the goal of the library has remained the same – to give people the information they need to make their lives better.”
The library will offer ways for the community to keep track of their spending and eating, as well as providing lectures and workshops.
“Healthy, Wealthy and Wise” will begin in January. If successful, it will become a national program in 2014.
