Continental Motors owner, Joel Weinberger has been racing cars for more than 20 years.
“What you race on the weekends helps you sell stuff on Monday. A lot of people I come into contact with, a lot of the race car enthusiasts, now own Audi’s” said Weinberger.
He’s come a long way since starting off racing a ’66 Lotus with his father.
Last year, he claimed his first SCCA National Championship, driving an Audi A4, the first Audi ever to win the race, and the only one competing.
He was automatically qualified for this year’s competition but hasn’t been sitting on the sidelines.
Since his 2011 win Weinberger has competed in three other races this summer, taking 1st in all of them.
“I just enjoy the whole ambiance of the track, I love the smell of the fuel and the running engines, hearing them starting up at 8 a.m. even if my race isn’t till 11, I just like to be there to take it all in” said Weinberger.
In addition to his summer racing, Joel was invited by his tire sponsor, BF Goodrich to participate in the Baja 1000; a 27- hour race through the desert in Mexico.
