Loaves & Fishes has started its “Packs 4 Kids Initiative” to help equip students with school supplies. From now until July 31st, you can drop off items such as three-ring binders, colored-pencils, scissors, and glue-sticks, or leave the shopping up to a Loaves & Fishes volunteer and donate $20.
Last year, the initiative eased the back to school shopping for nearly 1,600 kids. The pantry hopes to top that and aid more than 2,000 students.
“The key to breaking the cycle of poverty is education,” said Nancy Couch, Volunteer Coordinator for Packs 4 Kids. “If we can equip every child for success on the first day of school, then we have a good chance of breaking the cycle of poverty for that child.”
