Field Production
 |
Executive Director Liz Spencer working at NCTV17 with North Central College students on Final Cut Pro.

|
Field production is where the producer heads out into the real world to capture its sights, sounds and stories. At NCTV17, we utilize both professional field and editing (Final Cut Pro) gear. Field production introduces the student to field camera techniques, audio and lighting. (Students should have taken studio production first or received a waiver the production supervisor.)
The class is grouped into teams of two and a field project is assigned by the instructor that helps introduce the class to field production with an interesting but attainable first project.
The first half of class is spent in actual production followed by the remainder of time learning post production and Final Cut Pro editing. After completion of the project and class, the producer may begin utilize the field production equipment.

* Field Production covers the basics of working with NCTV17's field equipment. We will not discourage you from working on the project of your choice, but please be advised, you have all the time in the world AFTER the class to work on your dream projects. Use the class time to learn the basics, on a simple project, that will aid you in producing future projects. |
** Field Production centers on news/documentary style field production, and not traditional "movie-making," but if this is your interest, we will gladly work with you. |
***"Tweaking" is the process of balancing audio and fixing picture--the final process before you're done! |
