Puppies, kittens, pigs, oh my!
6th Annual Pet Expo puts animals into happy homes.

Lonely pets looking for love were out on the front lawn of 420 County Farm Road Saturday morning.

The Dupage County Animal control Multi-Shelter Pet Expo featured more than 30 animal welfare/adoption agencies and breed-specific rescue groups specializing in dogs, cats and small animals (rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs) this past weekend.

"We're just trying to put her into a happy home," Collete Liska, said. Liska has been fostering a pit bull mix for several months. "It's great fostering her but you want her to find her forever home."

The Multi-Shelter Pet Expo also featured food, games and attractions,
including everything from pools for dogs to splash around in and an Alaskan
malamute pull. The event also featured a bake sale fundraiser hosted by
Friends of DCACC and a microchip clinic. Pet vendors were on hand selling
all varieties of pet-related products.

Socialized, vaccinated and leashed dogs of all shapes and sizes also came.

"It's so great to have all the socialized pets here, and have all the pets
we sent out come back and see them socialized!" said Kerry Vinkler, the
executive director of the DuPage County Animal Control.
